Job Description

Looking for a jack of all trades type migration/Infrastructure admin/engineer/architect type. This person will help out in a plug and play type way for various projects i.e. migrating confluence to Atlassian, working with SCIM, email migration. Scripting skills are necessary though not particular to any type. Person will play in both the windows and unix environment.

Some knowledge of DevOps would be very helpful as well

Iniative and ability to create solutions is key. Not looking for someone who only does what they are told.

Mainly remote work but nice to have person come in occasionally to campus

Seeking a highly versatile Contract Infrastructure Engineer to join our technology operations team. This is a hands-on, plug-and-play role supporting a range of critical infrastructure and migration projects. We’re looking for a self-starter with a broad technical skill set, able to quickly jump into unfamiliar environments, solve problems, and contribute across systems.
You’ll work across Windows and Unix environments, support systems migrations (such as Confluence to Atlassian), manage SCIM integrations, contribute to email platform migrations, and support broader infrastructure efforts. Scripting proficiency is required — language is flexible — and familiarity with DevOps practices is a plus.
This position is mainly remote, with occasional on-campus collaboration required in Houston, TX.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead or assist with infrastructure migration projects (e.g., Confluence to Atlassian stack, email platforms).
• Manage and support SCIM integrations and identity management processes.
• Write scripts to automate tasks across Windows and Unix systems.
• Operate within both Windows and Unix/Linux environments, often bridging between them.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure issues independently.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams to deliver project outcomes.
• Contribute to DevOps practices where applicable (CI/CD, automation, monitoring).
• Proactively identify and implement improvements across systems.
• Adapt quickly to shifting priorities and new technical challenges.

Qualifications
• Proven experience with infrastructure systems, migrations, and scripting.
• Comfort operating in both Windows and Unix/Linux environments.
• Familiarity with tools like Atlassian Suite (Confluence, Jira), SCIM, and email platforms.
• Ability to write and debug scripts (PowerShell, Bash, Python, etc.).
• Strong problem-solving skills and a self-directed, solution-oriented mindset.
• Familiarity with DevOps principles (CI/CD, containers, automation) is a plus.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

• 5+ years in infrastructure, systems engineering, or IT operations roles.
• Experience with identity/access management and automation tools.
• Prior experience in higher education or complex enterprise IT environments.
