Job Description

job Title: System Engineer (6-Month Contract)
Location: In Office
Contract Term: 3-6 months
Company Overview:
The company is embarking on a strategic project to deploy a distributed Content Delivery Network (CDN) designed to host an OSRM (Open Source Routing Machine) platform for enterprise map data delivery. This system will serve 95 US Domestic branch offices requiring low-latency access to routing information and map visualization. The successful candidate will architect, deploy, and optimize this CDN solution, integrating it with the organization’s existing on-premise infrastructure and internal applications.

Responsibilities
• Design and implement a multi-site CDN architecture to replicate and serve OSRM map data across 95 branch locations.
• Integrate CDN nodes with existing enterprise network and on-premises applications for real-time map data delivery and route visualization.
• Deploy and configure map tile storage, caching layers, and replication mechanisms.
• Develop automated deployment pipelines (using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or Kubernetes) to manage regional CDN nodes.
• Optimize performance of OSRM-based services including routing, map rendering, and data updates.
• Collaborate with internal networking and security teams to ensure compliance, redundancy, and data integrity within the CDN.
• Create monitoring and alerting systems using tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, or Azure Monitor for performance visibility.
• Document the CDN topology, configuration standards, and operational runbooks for support continuity.
• Provide technical knowledge transfer to permanent IT staff at the project’s completion.

Required Qualifications
• 5+ years' experience in network engineering, DevOps, or cloud infrastructure roles supporting distributed systems.
• Demonstrated expertise with CDN architecture, caching systems (NGINX, Varnish, Squid), and load balancing.
• Strong hands-on experience with Linux systems, DNS management, and SSL/TLS security.
• Familiarity with OSRM (Open Source Routing Machine), PostGIS, or similar geodata platforms.
• Proficiency in scripting and automation (Python, Bash, or PowerShell).
• Experience managing deployments across hybrid environments (on-premise + cloud such as Azure or AWS).
• Excellent troubleshooting skills spanning network, API, and data replication issues.
________________________________________
Preferred Experience
• Previous involvement in enterprise CDN or edge network deployments.
• Familiarity with data replication or geospatial data synchronization strategies.
• Knowledge of Docker/Kubernetes container orchestration for distributed services.
• Experience with continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) tools such as GitLab CI, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.
• Understanding of security hardening, network segmentation, and DDoS mitigation techniques.
________________________________________
Deliverables and Milestones
• Month 1–2: CDN design and prototype OSRM platform deployment at core and test sites.
• Month 3–4: Rollout to 20 pilot branches, with automated replication and data sync validation.
• Month 5–6: Full deployment to 95 branches, final performance tuning, documentation, and staff handover.
