Job Description
The System Engineer will be focused on VMware Tanzu Kubernetes Grid (VKG)
6-month contract
on-site (no remote).
Environment:
Private/on-prem vSphere 8U3e+, VCF, VMware AVI load balancer
Two primary data centers (possible edge sites).
No public cloud or DMZ work.
What the person will do
• Deploy and configure VKG on our vSphere clusters
• Set up basic services (networking, certificates with enterprise PKI, load balancing, storage, registry access)
• Document the setup and train our IT staff
• Partner with security on access, logging, and basic audit needs
Must-Have Qualifications
• Hands-on VKG deployment experience (required)
• 5+ years in IT infrastructure/systems engineering
• Comfortable working on-site full time
• Experience with:
o vSphere 8
o AVI (NSX ALB) for Kubernetes ingress
o Container registries (Harbor/GHES)
Nice to Have
• VMware certification (e.g., VCP)
• Experience automating K8s delivery (Aria Automation)
• Exposure to GPU-enabled containers
• Familiarity with metro/DR patterns
Key Deliverables
• VKG running in both datacenters
• Simple runbooks and diagrams
• Staff training and handoff
