IT Systems Engineer – Loomis (Mid-Level, Permanent Position)
Loomis is seeking a full-time, mid-level IT Systems Engineer to support and enhance our branch and datacenter technology environments. This is a permanent, on-site role with some travel to branch locations. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working directly with end users, supporting core infrastructure (servers, storage, power), and operating in a large, fast-paced corporate environment. Candidates must be able to pass a comprehensive background check.
Core Responsibilities
• Provide hands-on support for end users to troubleshoot and resolve IT-related issues (workstations, applications, access, etc.).
• Support, troubleshoot, and fine-tune Dell / Cisco server and VMware environments in both branch and datacenter settings.
• Work with edge/branch computing infrastructure to ensure reliability and performance.
• Administer and support Active Directory (user accounts, groups, access issues).
• Support and maintain APC battery backups and PDU load balancing in server rooms and branch locations.
• Perform hardware configuration, deployment, and ongoing support for servers and related systems.
• Work with network equipment (switches, firewalls, etc.) at a basic/support level in coordination with network engineers.
• Learn new IT systems and platforms and provide ongoing support as they are adopted.
Required Skills & Experience
• 3–5 years of experience in an IT systems engineering or similar infrastructure role (mid-level).
• Experience with VMware and Dell server hardware.
• Working knowledge of Active Directory and common Windows server/endpoint environments.
• Exposure to edge/branch computing environments.
• Familiarity with supporting network equipment (at the device/support level, not full network engineering).
• Strong communication, organizational, analytical, time management, problem-solving, and planning skills.
• Willingness and ability to travel to branch locations as needed.
• Must be able to successfully pass a background check.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in a large corporate or multi-site environment.
• Experience with SolarWinds or similar infrastructure/monitoring tools.
• Past experience scheduling and organizing server deployments (planning, coordination, execution).
• Ability to forecast server workload growth and assist in capacity planning.
